BY-LAW AND CIVIL CASES

By-law cases were dealt with by Mr. T. B. McNeil, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. ...... Charles Chereton was fined £1 for not having a driver's license and was ordered to pay costs, 10s., for not having a rear vision mirror on a motor-lorry. Allowing stock to wanted cost Alphonse Casey £1 and Arthur E. Preston 10a. ' Parking their cars in prohibited areas cost Joseph W. Carr and Henry C. Hibberd £1 each, and James W. Donnelly 10s. Overloading a motor lorry cost William Dailey £1 10s. On charges of plying for hire on an unauthorised stand, Herbert C. E. Empson was fined £l, and John Gilmore was ordered to pay costs, 10s. William Guy and George Morgan, juu., were each fined £1 for falling to produce a driver’s license. _ Marshall R. Mays and Victor Webley were each fined 10s. for parking their cars less than 15 feet from the building line. Wilfred Peachy was fined 10s. for hawIng defective brakes on a motor-car Ernest Wiltshire was fined £1 10s. for speeding. Leaving their vehicles unattended cost Edgar Allen, Frederick Bailey, George CSimmiss, Robert E. Tolhurst, and Harry Wilson £1 each. Herbert Warcup was fined 10s. for driving the wrong way in a one-way traffic street and 10s. for speeding round a corner. „ At a recent sitting of the By-law Court, Alice Edith Avery was fined £2 for failure to comply with a cleansing order, 10s. on each of two charges of failure to make prefer provision for the discharge of storm water, £2 for failure to repair a sink flashing, and £2 for failure to repair a main, vent pipe. At defendant’s request the cases were reviewed ye terday, and the Magistrate decided to remit the fines and to order defendant to pay court costs, 10s., on each charge.
