Police cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday were heard before Mr. E. Page. S.M.

A charge of being found drunk in the Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning while the Court was open to the public was preferred against John Morrison, a labourer, aged 44, who was fined 10s. for his offence. He was also fined £1 for breaking the terms of his prohibition order. Found by a constable in the Courtenay Place tram shelter In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Clarence Levi Jacksou, a motor mechanic, admitted that he had no means of support and had no place to sleep. He also stated that he had been sleeping out tor two or three nights. Jackson pleaded guilty before the Magistrate to a charge of being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient lawful means of support. Senior-Sergeant Ward said that accused came to Wellington last week, but had been unable to obtain work. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within twelve months if called upon, and was ordered to go to the Salvation Army Home until he could obtain work. BY-LAW CASES By-law cases were dealt with by Mr. J. Miller, S.M. Matthew Babich was ordered to pay costs, 165., for failing to notify change ot ownership of a motor-car. For permitting the use of a motor-car without endorsed certificates, George P. Popovic was ordered to pay costs, 16a. On charges of failing to keep to the left, Frederick W. Hislop was fined £4, and William J. Evans £1 10s. Not having a driver’s license cost Henry Kwok £4. . Fred Roberts was fined £4 for falling to give way to a motor-car at an intersection, and on a similar charge Ran Parata was fined £3. Leaving her car unattended cost Marguerita A. M. Dennis 10s.
