STRUCK BY OBSTRUCTION FROM LORRY.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Whaliatane, February 25. As the result of a motor accident on the Taneatua Road at midnight on Saturday, Lola Marcia Warn, aged 19, lies dangerously injured in the Whakatane Hospital. She was a passenger in a car going to Taneatua, which was passed by a motor-lorry carrying merry-go-round gear from the Opotiki Show to Whakatane. As the car and the lorry passed, an eleven-foot tent pole on the lorry, with a point at the end, penetrated six inches into the girl’s back, just underneath the shoulder-blade, inflicting a terrible wound.
