BIBLE CLASS CAMP

RETURN VISIT TO MASTERTON. The eighth annual, eamp and conference of the New Zealand Anglican Bible Class Union will be held at Solwaj- Showgrounds, Masterton, from December 26 to January 5 next. It is expected that there will be from 100 to ISO boys and young men’ present from all districts of New Zea’°Th’e union was founded in 1921, principally by the Rev. T. Fielden Taylor, with a view to consolidating the scattered units of the bible class movement in the Anglican Church in New Zealand. From a very small beginning it has, in eight years, become a large and influential organisation, numbering nearly 2000 members from 150 classes throughout New Zealand. , The camp, with which is combined the annual conference, is regarded as the outstanding event of each ysar. So far camps have been held at Carterton, Rangiora, .Masterton, Ashburton, Hamilton, Tlmaru, and Wanganui, so that Masterton is the first centre to receive a second visit, rills year's camp will provide an unusually full programme of sports, competitions (individual. inter-class, and inter-island), being held iu cricket, football, tennis, and swimming. There are to be also athletics for the Blackburne and Patterson banners, and swimming (by courtesy of Solwav Girls’ College, who are lending tennis courts and baths), for the Julius and Sclwvn Cups. The principal sporting events will be contested on Tuesday, January 1, when the camp will be open to visitors. The Rev. H. S. Kenny, of Palmerston North, will direct the camp as camp commandant, and arrangements in Masterton are in the hands of the Rev. E. McLevie. There will be present a large number of clerfgv, deluding the Rev. G. G. Beil. Dominion president. Several are to give addresses at the camp. It is hoped that it may be possible to arrange for a public concert to be Riven either in camp or in the town, in aid of some deserving object.
