HOLIDAY TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS

In to-day’s issue will be found the Railway Department’s advertisement setting out the train arrangements for the Christmas holidays. Suburban residents will notice that the morning trains from Paekakariki on December 24, and_from Johnsonville on December 24 26, 27, and 29 arrives in Wellington a little later than usual. In order to avoid congestion on the 5.40 p.m. Wellington-Palmer-ston North train on December 24, passengers are requested to make as much use as possible of the special train provided at 4.45 p.m. Particulars of the restricted use of these trains appear in the advertisement. A relief train also runs to Masterton in the evening on December 24, and passengers are invited to use that train and avoid overtaxing the usual 4.16 p.m. service. Night trains are scheduled on Christmas Eve (December 24), between Wellington, Napier, and Wanganui. Adequate arrangements are made to cater for passengers to the seaside and picnic grounds on Boxing Day and the following day. Race meetings at Palmerston North and Clareville on December 26 and subsequent dates are especially catered for, and special fares featured. The New Year holiday train arrangements will be advertised next week.
