At the City Council meeting on Thursday night it was decided that Wellington Road be taken over as a public street Permission was granted for the erection of a block of fiats at Aitken Street. Applications for the erection of motor garages on the road reserve where the roadway fronts or crosses the Town Belt are to be first referred to the Reserves Committee, and each case dealt with on its merits. Permission was granted for the erection of a concrete dwelling at Messines Road without the use of steel reinforcements, subject to compliance with all conditions laid down by the city engineer.
