MR. WILFORD TO LECTURE
> "WHY CANADA ABANDONED PROHIBITION.” A public lecture will be delivered in the New Masonic Hall, The Terrace, on Thursday evening by Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.» who is taking as his subject “Why Canada Abandoned Prohibition,” being an account of his personal Investigations from coast to coast In that Dominion. The lecture Is to be delivered under the auspices of the New Zealand Licensing Reform Association, and Is In response to a request made by the Ven. Archdeacon Williams that Mr. Wilford should to the neonle of New Zealand the information gleaned by him on his recent trip abroad, as to the reasons why Canada abandoned prohibition, after an extended trial, and adopted State control. The Ven. Archdeacon williams, president of the Licensing Reform Association, will preside. All citizens are Invited, and there will be. no charge for admission. The Working Men s Club Orchestra will provide a programme of music from 7.30. In view of the fact that the middle Issue of State control will still be on the ballot paper at the approaching poll Mr. Wilford’s lecture should be of particular Interest.
