RUSSIAN FOOD QUEUES
POSITION VERY ACUTE (Australian Press Association.) Riga, October 31. “Senseless queues” is the Soviet Press description of the women and children waiting in Leningrad and elsewhere before dawn to get Hour, only to be offered turnips and apples. Nevertheless, the Press admits that the queue folk have been waiting a whole week, which hardly tallies with the daily official assurances that there is enough for everybody. Other reports show that the position is very acute, and confirm the report of sufferings in the Ukraine.
