The “Morning Post’s” Paris correspondent says the Note makes it clear that the proposals are unacceptable. MEETING OF EX-SERVICEMEN IN LUXEMBURG
WORK EULOGISED BY SIR SIR lAN HAMILTON
(Australian Press Assn.—United Service.)
London, October 7.
Sir lan Hamilton told the Bow British Legionaries that a “fine piece of work” had been done by ex-enemy and Allied ex-service men in Luxemburg, where they met under the presidency of an ex-enemy general and passed a resolution against ex-service publications employing insulting terms towards ex-enemies. “This wasn’t a double shuffle by diplomatists,” he said. “Compare this practical handshake with Locarno, endeavouring to attain peace by an agreement to fight whenever war breaks out. The spirit of Locarno, founded on a recognition of war, is evaporating. The Luxemburg spirit will pour out refreshment to mankind more and more abundantly. Propaganda in factories cannot wash out Luxemburg. ■ Six years ago the Legion’s Metropolitan Council asked me to resign the presidency because I advocated such entertainments, but I still hang on.”
