EMPIRE’S POLICEMEN
THE KING SHOWS INTEREST IN SERVICES PRESENTS MEDALS FOR COMPETITION (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, October 7. The King has honoured the policemen of the Empire with a new mark of his interest and appreciation of their services. It takes the form of a, gold medal to be presented annually by His Majesty for competition among men of all the regular police forces. The medal, together with a substantial money prize, will be awarded for the best essay on a set subject connected with police duties, and the subject chosen for the first year’s competition is: "Co-operation between police and public in the detection and prosecution of crime.” The institution of this competition is announced in a recent Metropolitan Police Order. It will be open to serving members of the regular police forces within the Empire or mandated territories.
