HEENEY’S RETURN
DUE AT AUCKLAND ON ■ SUNDAY Dominion Special Service. Auckland, September 5. As far as the Auckland sporting public is concerned there is only one man on board the liner Aorangi, which is due at Auckland from Vancouver on Sunday, and that is Tom Heeney. Accompanying him are his three brothers, who went from Gisborne to see the fight, and his newly-found wife. „ . , It is understood that the officials at IYA have made arrangements for Heeney to speak “over the air” immediately he lands at Auckland. In addition, the Northern Boxing Association is hopeful that the New Zealand champion will attend a presentation of medals to the amateur champions on Monday night. RECEPTION AT SUVA (Rec. September 6, 10.25 p.m.) Suva, September 6. The Aorangi, which has arrived here from Vancouver for Auckland, has on board Tom Heeney, his wife, and three brothers. The Heeneys are the guests at Suva of the Hon. and Mrs. Alport Barker, New Zealanders resident in Suva. Heeney was made a presentation at the Town Hall this afternoon, and he was farewelled by one of the largest crowds that ever assembled on the wharf, Including the seamen of the cruiser Dunedin, who performed a liaka.
