RADIO TEST POSTPONED TIRE OF AEROPLANE PUNCTURED (Rec. August 3, 8.40 p.m.) Sydney, August 3. The Southern Cross was unable to take off to-day for the tests of its wireless apparatus owing to a punctured tire. The test will be carried out to-morrow at the same time and with the same wavelength. [A message in yesterday's issue stated that Kingsford Smith was anxious for New Zealand to listen-iu and ascertain if there would be any 1 difficulty in picking up messages. The i wavelength is 33.5 metres.] t ] ADVICE TO P. AND T. ] DEPARTMENT ’ The Post and Telegraph Department ; received advice from Sydney yesterday that the aeroplane Southern Cross ex- . perienced a puncture in one of her tires J which prevented the Hight which was , to commence at 4 p.m. (New Zealand time) yesterday, for.the purpose of testing her short-wave radio equipment. The intimation added that the Southern Cross would take off at 4 p.m. today instead. Officials of the P. and T. Department will listen-in for the shortwave test.
