FOXTON NOTES
- Foxton, July 14. Mr. W. S. Heyes presided over a good attendance of members at a meeting of the Foxton Bowling Club ou Friday night. The balance-sheet was submitted, and disclosed the fact that liabilities were about £2OO in excess of assets. Consideration had not beep taken of the fact that the pavilion and green were assets, and it was decided to place £250 on the assets iu this connection. The subscription was fixed at £2 ss. A motion of sympathy with relatives of the late Mr. D. ■Whibley was passed. A scheme was discussed to raise funds for the club, but it was decided to hold a ball at an early date. Mr. J. M. Thomson was elected sole selector.
A committee meeting of the FoxtonFootball Club was held ou Friday uight. The gate takings for the Bebblngton Shield match totalled £3B. The junior trial game will be played at Levin next Saturday, and the junior representative game on July 28. The funeral of the late Mr. D. Whibley was held on Thursday. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Christie, Woods, Ross, Thomson, Easton, and Heyes. Service at the church and graveside were conducted by the Rev. W. H. Walton. Mrs. R. Owen, of Foxion, has returned to her home after being an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. Mr. apd Mrs. J. 11. Reid .are on a visit to their son, Mr. H. Reid, o£ Foxton.
