FEILDING NOTES
RATING COMMISSION. Feilding, July 14. A special meeting of the committee of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce was held this morning to discuss matters relating to the commission which is to sit on Monday to inquire into problems of rating on farm lands iu boroughs. The meeting decided to support the Feilding Borough Council in requesting au adjournment of the commission to enable evidence to be prepared. At the monthly meeting of the Feilding Borough Council on Thursday night, it was unanimously decided to support the request of the Palmerston North Borough Council that the matter of hospital board management, raising of levies, and representation on hospital boards be put before the Government by a deputation. So that it will be necessary for the Government to send an engineer to supervise the work of the reconstruction Of Aorangi Bridge, the Feilding Borough Council has written to the Public Works Department offering the services of tbe borough engineer (Mr.,T. K. Hay) as supervising engineer of the work. The council has also suggested to the Department that the borough stone-crushing plant be used to prepare the necessary material, and so make unnecessary the erection of another- plant. The borough plant is on the rirersid", close to the site of the bridge.
