Messrs. G. E. Bailey and J. Healey, of Woodville, will leave this week for a trip to Tahiti and will be away about six weeks.

Mr. G. Thompson, of Palmerston North, is visiting Hamilton.

Mr. S. Wright returnd to Palmerston Nopth on Friday from Dunedin, where he attended the funeral of his father, the late Mr. Duncan Wright, wfio was city missioner in Dunedin for 48 years. The Rev. B. R. White, of Wellington, has been appointed, and has accepted, the vacant parish of Bulls, Sanson, and Greatford. The Rev. White is well known in the district, having been at one time vicar of Rongotea. The death has occurred at Gladstone, Wairarapa, of Mr. George James Foremap, a well-known farmer and early settler, at the age of 70 years. Deceased went to the Wairarapa when a young mqn and Jived in the district Practically all his life. He was one of the party which surveyed the Glad-stone-East Coast road and helped to clear the line for the road. He took up property at Te Wharau and retained it for about twenty years,, but for the last twenty-eight years had resided at Gladstope. He was keenly interested in public affairs, and at the time of his death was a member of the'Wairarapa South County Council, on which body he had served for fourteen years. He was also treasurer of the Gladstone Hall Committee, and for many years was associated with the Gladstone School Committee. At different times he owned racehorses. He leaves a widow, four sons, and five daughters, namely, Mrs. W. J. Scott (Langdale), Mrs. W. Chambers (Whakatane), Mrs. E. L. Wakelln (Taumarunui), and Misses May anc l Nellie Foreman (Gladstone), Messrs. Robert and Norman (Te Wharau), Eric (Gladstone), and George (Mamaku). One son was killdin the Greqt War. THE LAST DAYS.
