OF KIDNAPPED MINE MANAGER ‘ ; Mexico City, January. 10. Charles Barber, American mine/.manager, kidnapped on December 17 by bandits, arrived here bruised ’ and bloodstained. He tells a thrilling;Story of his escape. Last Wednesday-- he heard from his guards that they were discussing his proposed execution -.for Friday, unless a ransom of £3OOO was paid. ’ He leaped upon his guards, armed with a steel rod, and knocked out two. A third seized his rod, but he secured a beer bottle, with which, in; a desperate struggle, he killed the remaining two. He then returned to the two first assailants and finished them. Then he escaped to the bush, where he spent. three' days wandering ; n a terrible plight.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
