SPRING CLEANING IN SCHOOLS
USING THE HOLIDAY PERIOD. Although the Education Board offices are officially closed until next Mondav for the holiday vacation, there is a good deal of activity going on in a number of schools under the board’s jurisdiction. Renovations and painting are being done at the 1 eaehers' 'Training College, Clyde Quay and Petone Schools; septic tanks and. painting jobs are being carried out in the Manawatu; three rooms are 'being added to Waiwetu School in the Hutt Valley, which will relieve the congestion which has existed there; the new school in Fry’s Lane, Lower Hutt, has been started, and the erection of a woodwork room at Mount Cook manual and technical centre has been begun. Tenders have also been accepted for school repairs and renovations in Marlborough. A great deal of work is under way altogether, in which about 40 schools are concerned.
