A well-known Poverty Bay minister, wliile visiting parishioners at Opoutama, Tiad a most unpleasant experience, which jn'i'dit have ended seriously .(states the "poverty Bay Herald”). With his horse and buggy, the minister attempted to ford a creek which had recently been Ttooded, hut liis horse soon lost its feet in tbe deen water, and was compelled to swim. The unfortunate minister was coinpeAid to sit in the water on the seat while the horse struggled towards the opposite bank, which was reached in safety. The minister and the contents of the buggy were saturated, however, and a new and expensive Bible was ruined. A ca? which attempted to cross at the tame place a few days before was extricated after six hours.
