NEW ZEALAND TOURNEY FIVE ROUNDS OF SINGLES PLAYED BY Telegraph—Press association. Christchurch, Januarv 10. The New Zealand bowling tournament was opened to-day in ideal weather. Five rounds of the singles championship were played, and the .following remain in:— Section A.—No losses: Kerr (Masterton), Smellie (Green Island), Reid (Lyall Bay). One loss: Benzio (Linwood)’. Section B—One loss: Bilcliff (United), Renton (St. Albans), Efford (Edgeware), Best (Dunedin), Stewart (Southland), Reynolds (Wanganui East), Bainbridge (Mount Eden), Smith (North End, Invercargill). Section C.—No losses: Horne (St. Albans), Whibley (Greymouth). One loss: Strong .(Southland), Ramsay (Shirley), Edwards (Island Bay). Section D.—No losses: Benefield (St. John’s), Lomas (Kclburn). One loss: Findlay (Mount Eden), Lloyd (Caledonian), Smith (Dunedin), Hain (North End). Section losses: Trayes (Mount Eden), Clarke (Carlton), Gourley (Temuka).
