PAHIATUA NOTES
Pahiatua, January 6. The thirteenth annual tournament of the Pahiatua Tennis Club was concluded yesterday. The weather was beautifully line, and the attendance well up to previous years. Players were present from Wellington, Martinborough, Featherston, Mastertou, Eketahuna, Bulls, Napier, Woodville, Waipukurau, Wanganui, and Feilding. The results of the finals are as follow:—Men’s championship singles: H. N. Burns (Wellington) ; men’s championship doubles: Swainson and Mackie; ladies’ championship singles: Mrs. Groves .Masterton) ; combined championship doubles: J. G. Swainson and Miss Swainson; men’s handicap singles: D. O. L. I-lowden; men’s handicap doubles: Burns and Scott (Wellington); ladies’ handicap singles: Mrs. Groves; ladies’ handicap doubles: Misses Walker (Bulls) and Payne (Featherston) ; combined handicap doubles: D. C. Coombe and Mrs. Coontbe. Miss E. Burt is an inmate of the Public Hospital. Messrs. F. G Bourke and J Bolderson left bv car for Rotorua to-day, where they intend to spend a short holiday. A rink comprising Messrs F. Moore, E Britland. F Britland, and W Britland (s.) will represent the local bowling club at the Rotorua tournament to be held next month. Mr. B Creaeh, of Wellington, is spending a holiday with bis sister, Mrs. W. G Rising, Makomako. Dr. FL Paterson is on a visit to Wellington.
