AIR FORCE

WAGES AND RECUITING Rates of pay for members of the New Zealand Air Force were gazetted last night. Officers are placed under the Territorial Force schedule, while cadets are to receive ss. a day. A flying allowance of 10s. a day for officers and ss. for cadets employed on regular flying duties is provided, a daily scale at the same rates being prescribed where casual flights are undertaken in the course of duty. Additional regulations stipulate that the Air Force is to be recruited from selected men from the Territorial Force, but unless special nrovision is made to the contrary, the appointees are to retain the same liability for service as other members of the Territorial Force. On the completion of five years’ commissioned service, officers of the Air Force will normally be transferred to the reserve of officers.
