BUS CONSTRUCTION
WHEEL TRACK DIMENSIONS Amending regulations relative to the construction of motor-buses Were gazetted last night. In the original constructional regulations it was laid'down that the wheel track of the steering wheels must be greater than that of any qtlier pair of wheels on the bus. It is now proposed that every bus with seating accommodation for fifteen or more passengers shall have a wheel track cf not less than 56 inches for any axle fitted with single wheels, and not less than 60 inches for any axle fitted with twin wheels.
The power of the Minister of Public Works to grant exemptions from anv of the provisions in special circumstances is widened by another new clause. Its object is to enable the Minister to extend the exemption so that it mnv be applied at the discretion of an’ inspecting engineer to all buses of the same make , and model plying under similar
