THEFT FROM CLOTHES
HOTEL COOK'S LOSS. Masterton, October 12. A complaint that ho was robbed of .£l3 has been made to tho police by C. Coles, a hotel cook, of Masterton. He states that tho money, which was in notes, was contained in a wallet in a coat which ho kept in a curtain wardrobe in tho servants 1 quarters of the-hotel. Requiring some money, he opened the wallet, which to all appearances had not been tampered with, and discovered that the bundle of notes was missing. Some loose change in the same pocket had not been touched, while the thief had alike disregarded a tin epiece. '■ There was evidence that tho thief had not forced an entry to the room, but had taken the money at a convenient moment. The police have the riattei in hand.
