SHIPPING MOVEMENTS
WITHDRAWAL OF NEWS SERVICE
The cost to the Post Office of supplying daily notices of shipping movements in New Zealand is stated to have been between £4OOO and £5OOO a year, a burden the Department has been carrying for some years without any apparent recompense. In some quarters it is considered that the matter is more one for the Marine Department to handle.
The withdrawal of the service was the subject of a question in the House of Representatives last, week, and the reply ol the Minister is being awaited with interest-
