SOCIAL NOTES

TOWN AND COUNTRY Mrs. Boddington and Miss Nina Boddington have returned to Mastertou from a short trip to Wellington. Airs. Winton Brown (Wellington) is at present visiting Palmerston North.

Mr. and Mrs. 11. T. Wood have returned to Mastertou from a visit to Gisborne.

Miss Dorothy Innes, of Roseneath, Wellington, is visiting Mastertoil and is a guest of Airs. J. A. Smith.

Great success attended the opening performance at the Mastertou Opera House of “The Sunshine Girl,” this vear’s production by the Mastertou Amateur Theatrical Society. As is usual, the local talent is of a high order and ample indication was given that the season this week will vie with its predecessor for the title of the best performance yet staged by the society.

Airs. O. Meyrick, of Aokautere, has been- staying with her mother, Airs. N. Gortou, Feilding. Airs. McLean and Miss AlcLean are t.ie guests of Airs. A. Guy, Palmerston North.

Dr. and Airs. Fisher, of Hawke’s Bay, were visitors to Palmerston North during the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. K. Mitchell, of Lower Hutt, are staying at Wanganui. The engagement is announced of Alice, only daughter of Air. and Airs. R. McNab, Takapati, to Alervyn, eldest son of Air. and Airs. J. Thomsen, Burnside, Takapati. Airs. H. Robson, of Blenheim, is visiting Napier, where she is the guest of her ‘sister, Airs. R. Stewart, Lincoln Road.

At Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, on September 29, Alary Aledcalf, youngest . daughter of Mr. and Airs. G. Al. Capstick, of Eketahuna, was married to . Albert Stanley, son of Air. and Mrs. Davis, of London. The Rev. Isaacs performed the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of Air. A. J. Kelly, wore a frock of silver lace over white georgette, with train of silver tissue, the lining being of pale blue, and embroidered with true lovers’ knot and orange blossom. She wore a veil of silk net and 'coronet of orange blossom, with silver shoes, and carried a .beautiful bouquet The bridesmaid, Aliss Eila Studholme, niece of the bride, wore a frock of pale blue shot taffeta, with silver lace, and wearing a Dutch headdress of silver tissue and blue posies. She had silver shoes, and carried a bouquet. Little Aliss Collene Kelly was train-bearer, and wore a frock of mauve crepe de chine and silk net, her head-dress being of silk net. Attending the bridegroom was Air. J. J. Duncan as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, to the bridesmaid a gold bangle. The bouquets were the gifts, of Airs. A. Aloon. The receptioh was held at the Windsor tearooms, where Airs. Harold Studhplme, sister of the bride, wearing a frock of green crepe de chine and guipure lace trimmings, with black hat with ospreys, received about forty guests. The usual toasts were honoured. Later Air. and Mrs. Davis left by car for the south. The bride’s going-away frock was of beige repp with cyclamen crepe de chine trimming, and hat to tone.
