ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
YOUNG MAN BEFORE COURT.
Dominion Special Service. Auckland, October 3. The young man, Frank Charles Ashman who was prevented from throwing himself over Grafton Bridge on Friday night, by two nurses, appeared for sentence in the Magistrate's Court this morning on a charge of having attempted to commit suicide. Mr. J. J. Sullivan, who appeared I‘r aciused, said drink was Ashman's emse. If he was prohibited, it would bo in his own interest. His mother wouii take him and look after him if the Court gave him a chance. ’ The Magistrate convicted and ordered accused to come up for sentence w'hen called upon, and directed that he remain in custody until his mother called to fa .c him home.
’■ Now if anything happens, it is thqii fault,” said Mr. Hunt. s “Ignite so,’’ said Mr. Sullivan. “They realise their responsibility.”
