PROPOSED BIG INCREASE IN SALARIES BY TEbEGttAPH.-PBitfS ASSOCIATION. Copyright. (Rec. September 13, 7.30 p.m.) Berlin, September 12. In a surprising announcement Dr. Koehler, Minister of Finance, states that be proposes to ask the Reichstag in October to increase all Government employees’ salaries ranging from 18 to 33 per cent., instead of the proposed 10 per cent. It is calculated that the extra cost to the State will be £7,(150,000 annually. Business men are protesting that this is sure to start a vicious circle and cause clerical and manual workers in private industries to demand increases, resulting in a rise in the cost of necessities..
