At the colonial inquiry at Shannon regarding the death of Roy Victor Bloomfield, the evidence showed that the deceased asked the driver of the car, Mr. Lavin, of Wellington, to give him a lift to Levin. When on the Main South Road, while endeavouring to avoid another car, Mr. Lavin’s car kept too close to the side of the road. Tlie wheels skidded, and. despite the driver’s effort to recover, the car overbalanced down the steep bank. Bloomfield was so seriously injured that he died within a short time. Tlfe coronial verdict was that the deceased was accidentally killed, and that no blame was attachable to anyone. A rider was added to the effect that the corner where the accident occuned was dangerous, and that the Main Highways Board or the Countv Council should take steps to make it safer. ,
