MAGISTRATE’S DECISION REVERSED. BY Telegram.—Press association. Auckland, July 8. In tho Arbitration Court T. F. Anderson, secretary of the Seamen’s Union, appealed against a decision by Mr. Cutten S.M., on January 8 by which ap-, pc hint was fined £5 on charges that he had incited or instigated a strike of seamen on the steamer Whangape. Mr Grieve for the Inspector ot Awards submitted that there were no grounds for appeal. . Mr. Holmden for the appellant said that it could be shown that Anderson was in no wav connected with the alleged strike 'and that lie had been wrongly convicted. There was no evidence of contact between appellant and tho crew. , , , His Honour said the court bad decided to uphold the appeal on the ground that the evidence given in the Magistrate’s Court had been insufficient and to some extent contradictory. Mr. Holmdcn’s application for costs not allowed.
