The Woodville recreation ground, which for come time past has been in a very damp state after heavy rains, was mole-drained by a new process some dnvs ago. A later inspection revealed that the new method had resulted in a satisfactory draining-off of the wet area. It is calculated that human carelessness starts a fire somewhere every minnt» of the day and night. Borax was extremely rare ana almost as precious as gold in early times.
