INTER-COLLEGIATE MATCHES A return match was played on Saturday on ths Brougham Hill Club courts between teams from the Wellington Girls’ College. The Wellington Last Girls’ College won by 6 matches to 3. 42 games to 35. thus avenging their former defeat. Webber, I—6 Doubles—Misses Stowe and Watson beat Misses Glasgow and Dyer, 6—l; Misses Castle and Bell beat Misses Zohrab and Jones, 6-2; Misses Sturrock and Archibald lost to Misses Richardson and Webber. 2—o. NEWTOWN CLUB. The final of the combined doubles championship of the Newtown Club was played on Saturday, and won by W. G. .Morgan and Miss M. Stevens, who defeated Chandler and Miss Newman. 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. LONDON COVERED COURTS CHAMPIONSHIP ’ WON BY PROMISING YOUNG PLAYER. (Rec. March 28, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 27. In the final' of the London covered courts championship, Turnbull beat Austin, 7—9, 0-6, 6—3, 6—l, 7—5. Austin is England’s most promising . young player. NEW ZEALANDERS IN SYDNEY WET WEATHER PREVENTS PRACTICE. Sydney, March 27. Owing to the wet weather the New Zealand tennis team has been unable t* get in any practice so far. The team has been shown some of the sights of Sydney and entertained at theatre parties.—Press Assn.
