WAIROA NOTES
Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, March 25. At a well attended meeting last week it was decided to form a Savage Club and to adopt the rules of the old club. Forty-three members were elected, and it was decided to hold the Korero on the first Thursday in each month. The election of officers resulted as follows :— Patron, Mr. G. C. Ormond; president, Mr. J. R. Gillespie; vice-presidents,. Messrs. J. Corkill, Dr. J. Sommerville, P. H. Summerfield and A. G. Nolan; secretary, Mr. L. Albrecht; treasurer, Mr. H. L. Harker; auditor, Mr. B. G. Signall; musical director, Mr. J. Corkill; committee, Messrs. Chamberlain, Deighton, Buckley, Wade, Dr. Jardine, L. H. Stone, and A. C. St. Paul. Whilst cycling along McLean Street on Friday evening the youngest son of Mr. A. Hall collided with another cyclist, sustaining a broken arm. It is understood that the lad is progressing satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Berry returned, to Wairoa at the beginning of the week. Mrs. A. G. Jeffrey and Miss Jeffrey, Pahiu, Gisborne, passed through Wairoa by motor on their way to Hawke’s Bay. Sir James Carroll, M.L.C., visited Wairoa on his way back to Gisborne from Hawke’s Bay. , . Mr. and Mrs. J. Macdonald, of Clyde Road, will leave shortly on a holiday. Mr. and Mrs. T. Davey, ’ Mahanga,’ are visiting the Dunedin Exhibition.
