An amateur fisherman from the country was perche :1 on the north mole the other day in the midst of a row of other fishermen of varied ages (reports tlie Wanganui “Herald”). At last luck came his wav, and he gleefully hauled a fine old-man schnnpper on to the planks. After removing the hook the country fisherman began to look round for a stick with which to dispatch old man schnapper to a better world. The schnapper did not relish Ills scales being bleached with the heat of the sun, and with a merry flick of his tail he left the planks and was soon in his native element again, greatlv to the disgust of Ins former captor and the amusement of those in the vicinity.
