PERFECT WEATHER AND RECORD ENTRIES
The annual New Zealand croquet tour, nament opened yesterday in absolutely perfect weather on the Kelburn, Wei- ’ lington, and Karori Croquet Club 8 lawns. Before play commenced, the president of the New Zealand Croquet Council (Mr. R. Caughley) welcomed the competitors, and especially those visitors from England, Sir Francis and Lady AVemyss and Mr. H. L. Lawrie. The’ tournament is under the management of Miss M. Keesing, of Auckland, and tho entries, totalling over 200, constitute a record for the Dominion tourney. Due to the hot sun ffnd the absence of rain, the lawns are very fast, although in good order. The following are the results of the matches played yesterday rLadies’ Championship Singles.
