ROUGH RUGBY
THE ENGLAND v. WALES MATCH “FISTS-USED AS IN STREET BRAWL” London, January 19. "Rugby like a street brawl’’ is the description of Saturday's match between England and Wales. This rough play is attributed to an unnamed but wellknown international by the "Evening Standard,” which says: "Fists were used as in a street brawl, and feet as if the players themselves were the ball. A prominent Welsh Rugby Union supporter is quoted as saying, ‘Disgraceful; it is not Rugby.’ There was at one time danger of one of the captains leading his team off the field. I saw what can only be described as deliberate blows, while “ie offside rule was blatantly broken at ?Tie scrums by the Welsh halves. I a.m full of regrets at the conduct of certain individuals, and at the barracking of the crowds.” It is stated that certain members of the English Rugby Union have discussed the matter unofficially, and it will not be a surprise if the Welsh Union receives a letter on the subject. Reuter. fThe match, which was played at Cardiff, was drawn, each side scoring three points.!
