FRACAS IN PEKING
BETWEEN ITALIAN AND BRITISH SOLDIERS SEVERAL MEN STABBED Peking, .November 18. A serious fracas occurred between British and Italian Legation guards in a saloon in the east city, when it is alleged a strong party of Italian marines armed with daggers attacked a;i unarmed number ot men of the East Yorks Regiment, who recently arrived to relieve the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Seven of the Yorks were stabbed, one dangerously. There were no Italian casualties. It is alleged that a number of the Yorks and Loyals then bunted for, Italians without success. British troops are confined to barracks. —Reuter.
NOT AS SERIOUS AS REPORTED Peking, November 18. An investigation of the cafe brawl between British and Italian -.Legation guards has revealed that it was not as serious as was represented. Fifteen participated on each side, the English 'being as much to blame as the Italians. The latter snatched the Britishers’ bayonets from their belts and used them when the fracas commenced. The casualties are not serious. All the British, with the exception of one, have returned to duty.—Reuter.
