EMPIRE WIRELESS CHAIN
CONSTRUCTION OF STATIONS EARLY COMMENCEMENT FORESHADOWED London, May 7. It is understood that when the Cabinet Committee’s wireless report is published at the end of the week, it will reveal that the Government has decided that it is a matter of urgency to create an Empire wireless chain. It is stated on high authority that the Cabinet has found a solution of the long-standing difficulties between the Post Office and the Marconi Company, so that work can be begun without delay upon the construction of stations throughout tho Empire. The commercial necessity for speedier communication was not the sole factor that influenced the Government’s decision, which was hastened by the outspoken comments of Dominion newspapers regarding the Government’s attitude on preference and Singapore. Mr. MacDonald is anxious for more cordial relations.—Sydney “Suu” Gables.
