ALLEGED MURDER

BARNES AGAIN REMANDED On the application of Chief Detective Kemp, a further remand for a week was yesterday "ranted by Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the case of the young cook named Joseph Barnes, who 'is alleged to have murdered Walter John Whall on May 1. While agreeing to the remand, Mr. J. F. B. Stevenson said that he intended to oppose a future application, as the preliminary hearing should be commenced at the earliest possible moment to give accused an opportunity to prepare his defence, which counsel had been instructed was a good one. The remand was granted.
