* APPLICATIONS FOR AWARDS. Four applications for Dominion awards have been made by the New Zealand Federated Ironmasters’ Association, concerning engineers, moulders, boilermakers, and metal workers. In each claim a 47-hour week is asked for. and the rate of overtime to be time-and-a-quarter for the first two hours, time-and-a-half for the next two hours, and double time thereafter. The wages proposed are: —Engineers : Patternmakers, blacksmiths, coppersmiths, fitters, turners, millwrights, tool makers, brass finishers, milling machinists, universal grinders, 2s. per hour; machinists on slotting or shaping machine or on boring mills, Is. 10jd : workers on stock catalogue work. Is- IOJd. per hour; workers on oxyacetylene or electric welding other than spot welding, Is. per shift extra; 2s. per hour extra for those working in a confined area where tho heat exceeds 120 deg.: Is. 6d. per day extra for dirty work and those engaged casually at manure works. Work may be done under a piecework or premium bonus system. Moulders.—General moulders, 2s. per hour; machine and stock catalogue moulders, Is. IOJ-d. per hour. Boilermakers. —Journeymen. 2s. per hour; stock catalogue workers, Is10id.; electric welding, Is. per day extra; 2s. per day extra to those working in a confined space at a hoot over 120 deg.: Is. 6d. per day extra as dirt money and for casual work at manure workers. Metal Workers. —Furnace-men, strikers, drillers, screwers. punching and shearing machinists, implement assemblers, steel window-sash workers, planers. slotters, shapers, borers, etc.. Is. 9Jd. per hour; workers of over three years experience, Is. Bid. per hour; less than three years, Is. 6Jd. per hour; youths under 16, 15s. per week; 16 to 17, £1; 17 to 18, £l. 6d.; 18 to 19 335.; 19 to 20, £2; 20 to 21, £2.
