GERMAN SENSE OF HONOUR
LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN FRANCE SECURITY AGAINST DEFAULT WANTED By Telegraph—Press Association. —Copyright. (Rec. April 22, 0.25 a.m.) London, April 20. Paris correspondents report that French opinion generally is disinclined to share Mr. MacDonald’s confidence in the German sense of honour. The “Daily Chronicle’s” Paris correspondent says M. Poincare is sending a Note to M. Barthou stating that only when the Allies have agreed what measures should be taken if Germany fails to carry out the experts’ programme will France consent to abandon her present position in the Ruhr. The “Daily Telegraph’s” political observer states that France asks for a definite Allied agreement on the con. sequences of a possible German default, and on security so far ns this is connectcd with economies and finance. M. Poincare is willing to coperato in the scheme subject to these reservations.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
