(Rec. Alarch 19, 7.55 mm.) New York, Alarch 18. According to a despatch from a Tokio correspondent, it is learned that another earthquake disaster has visited Japan, the present centre being Kashiku, a small Japanese colony on Sakhalin Island, where great vertical and horizontal tremors opened huge fissures in the earth, destroying dwellings and causing many casualties. The River Nayori, immediately following tho earthquake, began rising rapidly. Tremors were felt at Tokio. The seismic nucleus is believed to be the sea bottom near tho Kurile Islands. Relief measures have been started to aid the injured and homeless in Sakhalin.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
