FRENCH ARMY BILL
MISSION OF FRONTIER FORCE TO ASSURE FREE MILITARY MOVEMENT By Telegraph—Press Association. Corr tight. (Rec. Alarch 19, 7.55 p.m.) Paris, Alarch 19. AL Fabry, in introducing the Army Bill, said the frontier Army mission would be to give tho country an assurance that at any moment a strong battle front could be formed beyond the Rhine frontier. The Army could not rely wholly upon itself. The national forces would have to support it, but reserves could not be mobilised under satisfactory conditions unless the frontier Army covered an operation assuring tho country freedom of military movement. It was objected that tho frontier Army would be costly, requiring an enormous amount of material. The country must provide that material. Two men had charge of a tank on the battlefield, but 45 men were required to maintain tho tank serviceably. An airman fought alone, but 60 men’s work was necessary to enable him tn fight.—Aus.-N.Z.
