FUSION OF OIL COMPANIES
PROPOSAL TO PURCHASE BRITAIN’S SHARES. London, January 17. It is understood that the Burma!: Oil Company has reopened its proposals to acquire the Governments Anglo-Persian shares after fusion with the Dutch Shell Company. They will undertake to meet tho Admiralty s requirements if the Anglo-Persian Company fails to do so.—Sydney “Sun cable. (Rec. January 18, 7.15 p.m.) London, January 17. In the House of Commons, in reply to a question whether anything had been done in view of the sale of the Government -bolding of the AngloPers'an Oil Corypration shares, Mr. Neville Chamberlain said that eighteen months ago a prbposal to sell the shares was rejected, on the recommendation of a Cabinet committee. Recently further proposals by various oil interests were submitted, but the Government had not had time to reach a final decision. It was intended to refer the matter to a Cabinet committee. —Reuter. >
