PETONE CLUB The Petone Club’s second competition, second scries, was fired at Trantham. on Saturday, the ranges being 800 and 1000 yards. The conditions were very trying, the wind varied from a bout 13 degrees right to six left. At 800 yards, H. Feist put on a clover 46 and T. Warburton 44. At 1000 yards, A. Weir put on a good 44, commencing witr a magpie and also finishing with one; his other hits were well in the centra. 15. Guinney and W. H. Ballinger scored 41 each. A. Weir was top scorer tor the day, and wins the A spoon, W. Body the B, and R. Mockridge the C spoon. The following are the scores:—

UPPER HUTT CLUB On Saturday the Upper Hutt Club fired its second shoot in the long-range series. A. Scholes was top scorer at 800 yards with 46, and F. Wilkie at 1000 yards with 41. WHAREROA CLUB The Whareroa Club commenced its series of shoots for the "Walkley Cup’’ on Saturday, with a match at ranges 200 and 300 yards. CENTRAL COMMAND MEETING AT TRENTHAM Arrangements have been made for tho holding of the Central Command rifle meeting at Trentham. The meeting will open on February 14. The importunce of the meeting, apart from the merits of the contents themselves, is centred in the fact that the marksmen and Cadets to compete at the annual Army Rifle Association’s meeting in March will be selected from the prizewinners. The programme is as follows:— Territorial Series—No. 1, 200 yards, 1920 Bisley target, 4ft. x 4ft.; application prone, seven rounds and one convertible sigh ter; snap-shooting, figure on pole, ten roum-B (two charges), ten exnosurers isif 3 seconds each, 3 points lor each hit. No. 2. 300 yards, application, prone, seven rounds and one convertible sighter, 20 seconds each shot, rapid, a rounds (1 charger), 25 seconds' exposure, prone, competitors in standing rest position till target appears. No. 3, 500 yards, ten shots in two series of five each, target 6ft. x 6ft., 20 seconds exposure tot each series, prone, scoring 4. 3,2 1. SUBURBS CLUB The Suburbs Club had their first shoot this season at the long ranges, and the results were not to the liking of many of the members. Misses were plentiful, and the telephone was kept busy with challenges The conditions were at times baffling, the wind going from left to right, and a strong mirage at times proved the undoing of several shooters. The shoot on Saturday counted for the fourth in the championship, and the second in the second series for trophies. Next Saturday will be a special Christmas shoot for trophies presented by supporters of the club. Handicaps will be arranged to suit all competitors. The best individual scores on Saturday were made by Rflmn. T. Goodall and E, Aston with 46 and 45 at 800 yards, and Rflmn. H. Hunt with 39 at 1000 yards. The following are Saturday’s best scores
