The opening of the Mornington Golf Club took place at Berhampore on Saturday afternoon. The conditions, with tho exception of a rather strong wind from the north, were ideal, and altogether an enjoyable afternoon was spent. In the absence of tho president (Mr. R. W. Shallcrass), Mr. A. H. Howard, club captain, drove the first ball, and declared the season open. Play then followed in tho order of a mixed foursome. Three couples handed in cards showing 3 down, and, in the play off, the winners turned up in Miss Wishaw and Mr. Walcott. Their card still showed 3 down, but Qiis -was good enough to place them on top.
Mrs. Howard and Miss Farley dispensed afternoon tea. The membership of the club is 70, and is likely to increase.
