FIRE AT WANGANUI
DRAPERY FIRM SUFFERS LOSS. BY TEMCBAPH.—PBESS ASSOCIATION. Wanganui, April 14. A destructive fire occurred at 10.30 this morning in Thos. Warnock’s drapery establishment. The blaze started in detached buildings at tho back used ns lumber rooms, etc. These were totally -destroyed. The end portion of the millinery room also caught alight, but tho flames were extinguished before much damage was done to the front building, though the stock suffered severely from water and smoke. The insurances are not available. TWO OUTBREAKS JN THE CITY ON SATURDAY. Two outbreaks of fire occurred in the city on Saturday night. The first call was to a one-storied building at 129 Manners Street, occupied bv Mr. G. P. Popovic, where the explosion of a kerosene primus stove had set tho premises ablaze. The brigade effectively coped with the flames. Tho building which is. owned by Mr. Helyer, was badly damaged, as were also the contents. No insurances were available last evening. , Shortly after 9 p.m. the brigade was summoned to an outbreak at a, oneroomed “bach” at 12 Tainui Terrace. The building and contents, the property of Thos. O’Donnell, suffered r.cverely.
