EFFORTS TO COAIBAT ACTIVITIES. (Rec. April 11, 10.15 p.m.) New York, April 10. The “New York Tinies” Washington correspondent says it is understood the Federal Prohibition Commissioner, Mr. Haynes, who is faced with the virtually impossible task of enforcing prohibition, will ask President Harding to authorise the use ■ of. naval forces to combat the activities of the rum-smuggling fleet plying on the Atlantic coast, and enlist the aid of the various Governmental Departments, notably the immigration service and the State Department, to _ co-operate in checking the flood of illicit liquors into the United States. —Aus.-N.Z.
