HEAVY MORTALITY CAUSES PANIC INHABITANTS FLEEING FROM CITY '
EPIDEMIC INCREASING IN MADRAS
By Telegraph.—press association. —Copyright. Delhi, April 10. The heavy plague mortality in Delhi has caused a panic in the city. The inhabitants are fleeing to the neighbouring villages, and the streets are almost deserted. There are between sixty and a hundred deaths daily.
The Health Officer has advised the closing of all schools and colleges. There were over 1500 deaths in Alareh alcne, and there have been over 3000 since January 1. Fresh castes are being hourly reported. The authorities hop© that the heat of Alay will kill the epidemic. Madras also reports that the epidemic is increasing. There were 800 flesh cases ar;d 600 deaths last week.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
