MAIL CONTRACTORS ARRESTED BY TELEG3APH.—PR3IS ASSOCIATION. Te Awamutu, April 11. Constables Doyle and Bushton yesterday arrested Ernest Edward Bacon anil his son Gcorgo, well-Jcnown residents, on charges of stealing motor tires valued at £l5 155., from Holmes Bros.’ garage on the night of February 21. Both accused were brought before Justices of the Peace to-day. when the police asked for a reiqand until April 19, and opposed bail, stating that several other charges respectiug missing Goods would Drobanlv ho preferred. Bacon senior said that Im intended pleading gniltv and he asked for bail, adding that he would :as'qs t the police in their investigations. The Bench refused bail. The accused are mail contractors with several cars. On Monday ni flint’, the police recognised .a. tiro on one of Bacon’s cars which was standing m n street Next day they arrested both men and a. search of their homo is reported to have disposed a laryo onantity of missing goods, bedding. household goods, motor, and electrical equipment, garden hose, etc.
