OPUNAKE HARBOUR BOARD
Opunake, in the centre of an immensely rich district, handling roughly 37,000 tons of produce and goods per year, which at present have to be carried b.v road to the nearest railway —30 miles to Hawera. 28 miles to Eltham, and 40 miles to New Plymouth—is building a modern breakwater wharf, etc. To carry out the scheme the Opunake Harbour Board is borrowing £50.000 at 6 per cent, for ten years. Tho board has an excellent rating area valued at close on one million sterling, over which a special rate has been struck to cover the amount required for interest and sinking fund. Mr. Charles B. Buxton is the broker for the issue.
